Arthritis and Arthroplasty Design Group

Ken Urish, MD PhD
Director

The objective of the Arthritis and Arthroplasty Design Group is to improve functional outcomes in the non-operative and operative treatment of knee and hip arthritis, optimize implant performance, and preserve joint function. The areas of expertise in our group include conducting translational research and clinical studies. Current clinical projects include improving post-operative pain control, preventing and treating complications, and preserving high-activity levels after surgery. Translational basic science projects include preventing surgical infection and the development of new therapies to fight infection. Director Ken Urish leads this multidisciplinary team of scientists with a number of funding sources, including the NIH and OREF. We accomplish our work through a series of translational basic science projects and well-designed clinical studies.
