Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

UPSOM MS-II Musculoskeletal Orthopaedics Course

In December 2016, department faculty Drs. MaCalus V. Hogan and John Fowler co-directed the inaugural delivery of small group lectures and problem-based learning case reviews to the second year class at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.  This was delivered as a component of the core Skin and Musculoskeletal Diseases Course for second year students.

This was the first for any surgical sub-specialty in the curriculum and for the department, and a giant step forward in expanding orthopaedic education in the medical school.  Drs. Kelly Anderson, Jeanne Doperak, Aaron Mares, Melissa McLane, Gele Moloney, Michael O'Malley, and Mark Sakr each led problem based learning sessions during the course as well.
