Sports Medicine Research Day held on June 1, 2016

The Second Sports Medicine Fellow Research Day was held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.

Christian Lattermann, MD, (Res '04) was the Grand Rounds Visiting Professor and Moderator of Sports Medicine Fellow Research Day on Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Dr. Lattermann is Vice Chairman for Clinical Research, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and sports Medicine, and Founder & Director of the Center for Cartilage Repair and Restoration at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Lattermann served as moderator and judge of the fellow presentations at the Sports Medicine Fellow Research Day from 6-7 AM in the LHAS Auditorium in UPMC Montefiore.

At 7 AM, Dr. Lattermann was the Visiting Professor at Orthopaedic Surgery Grand Rounds. Dr. Lattermann’s presentation was “Osteoarthritis: Breaking with the Old Paradigm.”

Sports Medicine Fellow Research Day resumed at 8 AM with award presentation.

Ashish Soni, MD, received the award for his presentation “Relationship of Quantitative Pivot Shift with Patient-Reported & Performance-Based Outcomes After ACL Reconstruction.” Dr. Soni’s faculty advisors were Volker Musahl, MD and James Irrgang, PT, PhD. Dr. Soni received a certificate and a $500 prize from the alumni association.

The award is generously supported by Dr. Jack Smith and the Orthopaedic Alumni Association. 

On Tuesday evening, May 31, 2016, Dr. Lattermann enjoyed dinner at The Inn on Negley with the sports medicine faculty and fellows.
