Dr. Patrick Smith (Pitt Ortho Alum ’03; Spine ‘04) hosts dinner event for orthopaedic surgery residents

On January 26, 2017 the residents took part in an evening event at a local Pittsburgh restaurant hosted by the current president of the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society, Dr. Patrick Smith.

The event was part of the newly developed lecture series intended to provide residents with improved exposure and preparation to business and political issues in medicine. Dr. Kelly Agnew, as well as POS lobbyists, were also present and discussed the merits of local grassroots advocacy, the need to effectively communicate with local government, and the roles that the POS and the OrthoPAC play here in Pennsylvania.

The event was well attended by our residents and served as a great opportunity to network as they begin their careers.

Dr. Smith is a 2003 graduate of the Pitt Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and completed a spine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in 2004.  Dr. Smith is a member of Three Rivers Orthopaedic Associates and is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
